Staff Application Review Process

This guide is intended for team leaders who are ready to review a pending staff application. If a prospective staffer has not yet submitted a staff application, have them do so before continuing.

Prerequisites​

In order to be considered for staff, and before evaluating the user's experience or technical skills, they must pass the following:
  • We use Discord as our staff communication platform. User must have linked their Discord account.
    Ensure the Discord icon appears in the user's sidebar, also called a "postbit".

  • User must be 18 or older, as with all members of the community.
  • Lore Team members must also have submitted the LCLA (gavel icon under profile must be present).
  • User must be regularly active for a period of more than 6 months, either on the server, the forum, or both.
  • User must commit to being active for at least 6 months.

Review​

The review portion of the application process is left largely up to you. You should account for their merits and experience as well as ask them questions to get a better understanding of what they will bring, how they work with others, and what they like doing for hobbies.

It is recommended that at least one interview is performed, whether over voice or text. A voice chat is available in the staff section of the discord, and team leads are able to move users from any public voice channel into the Interviews voice channel.

If you are unsure about the user, feel free to ask for input from an admin.

Your Decision​

When you are ready to make your decision, you will create a response to the user's application explaining your decision, click Approve or Deny, and apply the appropriate status label.

Administrative Work​

Approving the staff application, by itself, does not actually convey any powers to the new staffer. In order to do so, navigate to the Moderated Groups panel under your personal settings.

  1. Locate and select the group you wish to modify.

  2. Enter the user's name and your password, then click Add. Their name will appear while typing.1757514716054.png

Forum permissions will automatically be assigned to the user. If your new staffer needs additional rights, such as access to the Moderation Control Panel or the ability to manage users, submit a new Tech Support ticket.
